Ray of Hope

Some of you may already have seen ESPN’s story on Jason Ray, a University of North Carolina student who doubled as the Tar Heels’ mascot. Jason was killed this past spring during the NCAA basketball tournament when he was struck by a passing car while walking back from a convenience store to the team’s hotel.

ESPN’s Dwayne Rehs did an amazing job pulling together this inspirational piece about Jason’s tragic death and his parents’ struggle to make the decision for Jason to be an organ donor. In the end, Jason’s parents chose to honor his decision to become a donor and the story captures the amazing results with interviews with the recipients and a special meeting between the recipients and Jason’s parents.

Let us know what you think by checking out the story on ESPN’s site. They also have a great outline of the story and those involved.
