I’m sure most of you heard the story last week about 10-year-old identical twins Anji and Nelly Polanco, who were the first twins ever to receive kidney transplants from the same donor. Local media including the Chicago Tribune ran good stories detailing the transplant, which took place at Children’s Memorial Hospital here in Chicago.
In addition, the TODAY show aired a segment this morning interviewing the girls’ mother and the transplant surgeon. Another great testament to the power of organ donation. Thanks to a selfless donor, two young girls have been given brand new lives. We wish Anji and Nelly the best of luck on their new journeys!
