Former Rogue Wave Bassist Passes Away, Helps Save Others

I’ve always been a big fan of Rogue Wave, a solid indie-rock outfit that I started listening to some years back. The band has been through a great deal of turmoil this past year, including the passing of their former bassist, Evan Farrell in December. Just 33, Farrell passed away from injuries sustained in a house fire in Oakland.

In light of this tragedy, Farrell was a donor, graciously helping save the lives of of others in need. Organ donation has always been an issue close to the hearts of all the band members. In January 2007 I posted here about their drummer, Pat Spurgeon receiving a kidney transplant. Prior to the transplant, the band struggled to find the funds to help cover the costs of the surgery.

Our thoughts go out to the band, family and friends in this time of tragic loss. To read Entertainment Weekly’s story on Evan, click here.
