Organ Donation and The Oprah Effect

You hear about it all the time…the surge in book sales, drastic political influence, lives changed forever….it’s none other than “The Oprah Effect.”

Donate Life Illinois was able to experience a bit of Oprah’s incredible influence yesterday after a segment aired highlighting UNC student Jason Ray who we had posted about back in October . Following a tragic accident in March 2007, the UNC student who doubled as the school’s mascot, became a donor and helped save the lives of three others who were in dire need of transplants.

Yesterday, Donate Life Illinois experienced a record number of single day registrations thanks to the show and this great online feature directing people to Donate Life America to register.

In addition, the show spurred some great blog postings such as this one.

Another great tribute to Jason and fantastic call to action for others to save lives. It’s amazing to see this type of influence in action and attention drawn to an issue that effects so, so sooo many.

Thanks Oprah.
