So, how do you win? It’s easy!

First, become a fan of Donate Life Illinois on Facebook. Second, join the Donate Life Illinois Summer Giveaways event page. And, third, post a YouTube™ video from Donate Life Illinois with a short personalized message (Example: Register your decision to be an organ/tissue donor at www.DonateLifeIllinois.org.) and let us know you’ve done it by posting on our wall.

It’s that simple! New videos and prizes will be posted weekly throughout the summer. Be sure to look for updates on the Donate Life Illinois Facebook page and the Summer Giveaways event page.

Happy Hour for a Good Cause

November 22, 2010

We can all be thankful for Cocktails 4 Causes, a gathering for drinks, small bites and networking with proceeds going to a different charity each month.  For the inaugural event, Lisa Petrilli and Lisa Diomede are hosting a gathering at The Drake Hotel with proceeds benefiting the Living Kidney Donors Network. Cocktails4Causes utilizes social media to connect with others and invite attendees.

Reps from Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network and Life Goes On will be on hand to answer questions and register donors. The Drake will also be donating an additional dollar to the Living Kidney Donors Network for each person that registers at the event.

Hope to see you there!

-Nick

As always, Morgan and his entourage will be registering organ donors and giving away DLI t-shirts, wristbands and more. The tailgating event is free and open to the public. Check out the Bears site for all the details.

Musician and Donor Advocate Performing in Chicago

July 23, 2010

Musician and Donate Life advocate Alex Band is coming to town. Alex is the former lead singer of The Calling and is now solo. He’ll be performing a show at Schuba’s in Chicago on Thursday, July 29. Come show your support!

Alex was affected by organ donation when his wife was placed on the transplant wait list for a new liver. Alex has been an advocate for donor registration and has supported Donate Life in many ways. Just how dedicated is he? Alex shared this video of getting a Donate Life tattoo. Now that’s dedication.

A Walk Along the Lake

June 24, 2010

On Sunday, please join us for the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois’ annual  Gift of Life Walk! Last year, more than 1,200 people enjoyed entertainment, refreshments, healthy living tips and a leisurely three mile walk along beautiful Lake Michigan. Nearly $100,000 was raised in 2009 after expenses, which directly benefits programs like free screenings; educational days for patients, family members and health care providers; and camp for children with kidney disease. Donations and registrations are accepted by visiting www.firstgiving.com/nkfi.
